anal/locust grove cemetery

Locust Grove Cemetery is located in DeBaca County eleven miles north of Ft. Sumner, New Mexico and two miles east (take the Powel Ranch Road off of Hi-Way 84). The settlement was known as Taft. Cemetery surveyed October 4, 1986 by Ike Stanford, Don McAlavy and Harold Kilmer. Thirty-two more graves had field stones with no names.

Anal Cemetery is the name given to us by the Powel Ranch. The above addition is made from a memo received from Ann Storer in June of 2002. (Harold, what you have listed as Locust Grove community is not right; the cemetery was called Locust Grove; the town was Taft. My grandparents were among the first there. he is buried at the cemetery. They settled the land in 1906. As I understand it my aunt was the postmistress- schoolteacher until they moved to Okla about 1930 and then everyone had to send the kids to Ft Sumner to school. Ann)
